Guest Designer - Lorena Sollows

Hello folks!  Lorena here from Scrapping Corner as a guest designer for Great Impressions and wow am I ever super stoked to be given this opportunity - thank you Jenny!

First a little about myself, I hail from just outside our Nation's Capital Ottawa Canada.  I am a married mother of two very active toddlers who are the source of my crafty inspiration.  A banker by day and a paper crafter by night and any other spare moment I can squeeze in.  I have been working with Great Impressions stamps for many years, as the scrapbook store that I design for, Auntie Em's Scrapbooking, carries many of the GI stamps and does the Stamp Of The Month.

Hang In There
For my first card I used the Ride Em' Cowboy (G470) stamp - and paired it with Carta Bella's Giddy Up collection - I simply love how this paper perfectly compliments this stamp.  I used a sentiment from a totally different stamp collection "Hang In There"

 Just The Two Of Us

For my second card I loved this walking away image of this couple called Forever (G451) , I can envision them walking through a meadow gazing at all the wild flowers and simply enjoying life.  I tried to keep the colours light in this as I knew I wanted to use Prima's Lyric collection for this.  The sentiment was perfect for this, again from a Stamp Of The Month from previous months.

Well folks, there you have it, I hope you enjoyed looking at my creations as much as I enjoyed making them - and I sure did enjoy making them.  If you are ever in the neighborhood stop by my blog!

Chicken Soup - Not Quite Like Mom's!

Welcome to another Thursday! I love Thursdays...it's the day that marks more than halfway and it's the day before the weekend starts...what's not to love?!

This is the time of year where everyone I know is either getting over the flu or just getting sick...not my favorite time, but it does mean that I get to help out a friend or two with a little pick me up - bring on the chicken soup!

And somehow, it just seems to taste better when it comes in cute packaging, right?! I bagged the dry ingredients of a chicken lentil soup recipe, wrapped it tight and included the cooking instructions on a tag tucked into the back of the box. (If you're interested in the chicken lentil soup recipe stop by my blog Friday afternoon!)
The bowl is covered with Crackle Accents.

(Sorry about the off color pictures...that's what happens when you realize you didn't take any photos during the day! UPDATE: I retook the project photos - no more green!)

This project used two of the March Stamp of the Month stamps, so they're currently only available from participating stores!

Hope you and your's stay healthy...maybe you should eat more soup! :)

Inky hugs,
Angi

These Old Boots...

I don't know about you, but hiding out in my closet from the fashion police is a pair of old shoes... platform sandals...an old pair of thick Sketchers that are like walking on air...wrapped in silky soft fabric...

They're red, white and blue. Yep.

Worn for many summers...should be retired, but no matter how worn the fabric, how 'off' the white...I just can't give them up! Even if it means I only wear them out into the yard where no one else can see...

Hence the inspiration for this card...using "Old Boots" and "Western Boots" stamps from The March Stamp of the Month Program available today exclusively from your participating local stores!

And because us girls aren't the only ones that need a little upkeep, I decided to make this one a masculine card - a.k.a. sans ribbon and girly colors.

I know it's hard to tell from the above photo that this is a window card...so here's another picture for ya'll!

The sentiment stamp "Old Boots" is one stamp, three lines. I only stamped the first two on the front and stamped the last line by itself to use on the inside of the card...

If you look closely at the "Western Boots" stamp it has flowers on it - definitely girly! To remedy that bit I just used a cotton swab and dabbed it on the embossing powder to 'erase' the flowers before I hit it with the heat gun. Easy peasy!

Pssst! If you haven't signed up to be a follower, hurry up - you don't want to miss out on any of the March fun that's being stirred up around here!

Inky hugs,
Angi
