A pinch of this

Good morning and happy Monday. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I know I did. I got tons of work done and spent tons of time with my family at the same time.

Well it is officially March (I can't believe it). That means there is a new Stamp of the Month! Go check it out. Also I hope you stopped by yesterday because we started our new monthly challenge as well.
Tons of new things huh. Don't forget the new store is open to so go do a little Spring shopping!

Today I have a new card I made using some new My Mind's Eye Paper, colored the stamp with some copics, and added some lace for more country feel. I used the scalloped rectangle die to cut out a window so you could see the love coming from this card.

i know my post is short but you got a lot to look at with the NEW CHALLENGE, the NEW STAMP of the MONTH, and to go shopping.

Don't forget Jenny will be back tomorrow with something for you.

Go make a Great Impression!

Challenge #1~Something Handmade

Good morning everyone! I am so excited to be here this morning telling you about our new challenges! Now that the store is officially open we have decided to start doing monthly challenges. As the amount of participants increases we will also increas how often we do challenges but for right now the challenges will be a month long!

So welcome to Challenge #1
Before we get to what the challenge is there are a few things I want to go over with you for "rules" which you can always find on the right hand sidebar at any time!
~You can enter any project you wish to add and it does NOT have to be a Great Impressions image BUTTTTT....if you do use a Great Impressions image you will get entered into the random drawing 2 times! So keep that in mind!!
~You can enter up to 3 projects per month (per challenge)
~No backlinking...only current projects please
~Be sure to add you link only the link with your project, not your entire blog
~And please be sure to add a link to our challenge blog on your blog when entering the challenge

Super easy rules to follow right?!!!!

There will be a prize and a Top 3 each month and I am working on badges for you to display on your blog so make sure you check back at the beginning of each month to see if you have won or have been awarded a Top 3 spot (and of course to play along in the next challenge)

Okay...so let's get started:
CHALLENGE #1
Something Handmade
~Fairly easy....just add something to your project that is handmade. Now...the girls on the DT took my handmade to heart and I think they thought I meant they needed to make "something" so they went above and beyond for this challenge but from all of you...I just need to see something handmade on your project or you can make "some" "thing" if you want...it's up to you!

Here is the work of the DT:

Angi:
She made this stunning sachet

Shanna:
Mad an adorable box with some yummy goodies inside

Theresa:
Love this sign with all those beautiful embellishments

Deloris:
OMG....this is a stunnnnnning teapot!

Jenny:
Yes...this is a sewing machine!! Amazing right?!!!

After

April:
I did a handmade flower on my card that I just learned to do.

With age comes Wisdom...

Remember the times you could walk hand in hand
with your older brother or sister?  How you
just assumed they knew everything because they where older...
This adorable stamp reminds me of that innocent time

The Queen colored this sweet stamp
with her copic markers...

Added some of The Queen's  Royal Twine using

Fabulous Friday~Bunny in Egg Balloon

Good morning and Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have enjoyed your week and are ready for your weekend!

Before I get started on my post I wanted to share with you that starting Sunday....March 4th Great Impressions will be starting a monthly challenge! I will be updating the blog over the next day or two to reflect the rules, how you can easily find the challenges and so forth so be on the lookout! But the challenge will run for an entire month and there will be prizes awarded and a Top 3 each month! So I hope that you will all come out and join us for our very first challenge starting Sunday!!

So today I used Bunny in Egg Balloon and decided that the egg just needed to be paper pieced. This image is just so darn cute with that bunny's big floppy ears.  Once I finally decided on a layout (which is the hardest part to come up with for me) it all came together pretty quickly and easily. However...I'm not loving my overstickled yellow flowers...yikes! They may actually have to come off! But overall...this for me is super springy and I love spring!!! My sentiment is computer generated by me. I didn't have anything fitting for this card so I just made my own.

These Old Boots...

I don't know about you, but hiding out in my closet from the fashion police is a pair of old shoes... platform sandals...an old pair of thick Sketchers that are like walking on air...wrapped in silky soft fabric...

They're red, white and blue. Yep.

Worn for many summers...should be retired, but no matter how worn the fabric, how 'off' the white...I just can't give them up! Even if it means I only wear them out into the yard where no one else can see...

Hence the inspiration for this card...using "Old Boots" and "Western Boots" stamps from The March Stamp of the Month Program available today exclusively from your participating local stores!

And because us girls aren't the only ones that need a little upkeep, I decided to make this one a masculine card - a.k.a. sans ribbon and girly colors.

I know it's hard to tell from the above photo that this is a window card...so here's another picture for ya'll!

The sentiment stamp "Old Boots" is one stamp, three lines. I only stamped the first two on the front and stamped the last line by itself to use on the inside of the card...

If you look closely at the "Western Boots" stamp it has flowers on it - definitely girly! To remedy that bit I just used a cotton swab and dabbed it on the embossing powder to 'erase' the flowers before I hit it with the heat gun. Easy peasy!

Pssst! If you haven't signed up to be a follower, hurry up - you don't want to miss out on any of the March fun that's being stirred up around here!

Inky hugs,
Angi

Sorry...

Isn't this dump truck stickin' cute?

I know a few little boys that would love to see this truck on a birthday card or a party invite.  What I had in mind though since I first saw this stamp, was just a little bit different. (grin!)

One of my fave things to do is think up a sentiment to go with an image.
Something beyond the norm to get a little smile.
And who doesn't get dumped on every now and then?

My truck is colored with my trusty Copics and then "filled" with imitation sand.
Really, I used sand paper again.  Thinking I may need to replenish my DH's supply.
I tucked a ribbon beneath my truck panel and used
October Afternoon's Sidewalks collection as my DP.

Some silver shiny brads are added to give my wheels some sparkle.
Then I popped up the truck and lower sentiment on dimensionals.

I really enjoyed creating this little ditty for you!
Stop back tomorrow and see what Deloris
has in store for you!

Monday Quacks

QUACKY MONDAY!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I am pre-writing this post as my fiance will be getting in sometime early Saturday morning. I have no clue what I will be doing this weekend.

So I thought this card would be perfect to start the week off on a good note.

I used 3 Ducks in a Row paired with Quack Me Up

Of course the image was colored with copics and the sentiment was punched out with a Stampin' Up punch. I cannot remember it for the life of me. I used some silver ribbon from a ribbon assortment I got a while ago. The paper pad is an older one from My Mind's Eye.

I know this is a quick card to make. I made it knowing my fiance was coming home and thought this would be a good make someone laugh or smile card!

Have a great Monday and check back tomorrow to see what Jenny has for you.

DON'T FORGET

Our monthly challenge starts

Now go out and make a Great Impression!

Fabulous Friday~Get Well

So I am actually sitting here in ADVANCE this week getting my post together! I dont' know what has been going on with me and I normally hate when someone procrastinates (my husband...lol) but for some reason it has been me lately waiting till the last minute to get my stuff done and it's driving me nuts.
As you have probably already seen...our DT challenge this week was a sentiment ONLY...and some of the girls (including myself) were finding that challenge a challenge for sure! Thankfully I have this nice big sentiment so I didn't have to try to figure out what to fill the space on  the card with!!!
I used Get Well Prayer and got out my cricut and did some cutting!!! I got lucky that I was able to make it just the right size so it fit the card and the sentiment! I don't do a lot of get well cards and people ask me all the time for them and I might do a few more with this sentiment...it just seems perfect!
Just in case you didn't notice...on the sidebar----------> you will find the discount code for the store and there are only a few days left in Feb. so hurry on over!!

Sew...what's new with YOU?

Hi, Everyone! Angi, here...with another failed attempt at a CAS (Clean and Simple) card! Don't worry...it doesn't really bother me. I have way too much fun playing with techniques and trying to figure out how to get the most out of my art stash - that includes my Great Impressions' stamps!

Have you used the special code (GIB212) to receive 10% off your Great Impressions Stamps online order, yet? Only a few days left...this code is only good till the end of February...

I have a lot going on this week and really did attempt a simpler design, but alas, the paint called my name and I answered! The 'Sentiment Only' Design Team Challenge was a difficult one for me...only a sentiment?!

No background stamping?
No fussy cutting?
No masking?!

What's a girl to do?

Why get out the embossing folders and sewing machine, of course! It all started with a plain piece of kraft cardstock, a few paper scraps...and the 'What's new?' (C420) stamp...

then an embossing folder, a dab or two of white paint and some stitching...with a little vintage lace (can one have too much tatted loveliness?) and the odd button, two or three thrown in for good measure!

Sew...what's new with you? We'd love to hear about the Great stamping you've been doing.

If you've taken the time to leave us a lovely comment - Thank you! We appreciate the feedback. Make sure to follow the Great Impressions' blog, so you don't miss a thing...and we don't miss you!

Boy...am I going to be in trouble if we ever really do a CAS challenge...hope you find some time this weekend to get your craft on!

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: patterned scraps from my paper stash
Tools: sewing machine, Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Plaid (657064)
