Easter Chicks Tag

When the stamps for February's Stamp of the Month program were revealed I fell in love with this basket of chicks - Easter Chicks - stamp! Every time I see it I think, "Bless This Nest" because it reminds me of a house full of busy kids...oh...that's my house!

The 'patterned' papers were made using Distress Inks (Victorian Velvet, Vintage Photo, Wild Honey and Tea Dye) and the Damask Background stamp. The 'Easter Greetings' banner was part of the Easter Greetings stamp - just stamp and cut out the parts you need.

The little buds in this image remind me of pussy willows, so a bit of appliqué and the heat gun and voila! fuzzy buds!

Some other fun tidbits about this project...that orange seam binding is ribbon I dyed last year using the leftover dyes we had used for the eggs! It makes beautiful ribbon colors!

Use foam tape in a hidden place and stick your pin into the foam. It helps to anchor your pin and keep it from falling out.

Okay...time to get busy...speaking of...there's a little bit of time left to enter our Monthly Challenge!

Hurry quick! The deadline is the 31st...

No Place Like Home

Good morning all you crafty people!

Today I am sharing something I made to comfort my mother-in-law
when she moved from her large home to a Senior Living apartment.

It was super easy to put together with an inexpensive frame I purchased at Michael's.  I adore the tone on tone look and so does she, so I went with that and a pop of red for the background.
This whimsical stamp is colored up with my Copics in the colors that she loves.  The sentiment is computer generated, but there is a coordinating sentiment at the Great Impressions Stamps store.

Supplies

I love handmade gifts, don't you?
To me it conveys an extra special message of caring.

Easter is coming.

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday.

I have a new card to show you and I love it. I really love the colors because they are soft and dark at the same time. I used one of our newest stamps called Easter Basket and the sentiment is Cursive Happy Easter. I colored it with copics first. Then added Frayed Burlap distress ink everywhere. The papers are from last years Echo Park Springtime paper collection.

The flower is from Prima and the leaves are CC Cutters. I painted the leaves with Creative Inspiration Paints (Sage and Emerald). I also added some Light Purple to the flowers with Buttercup in the centers.

I used scallop large rectangle dies from spellbinder and ribbon from Stampin' Up.

It is almost a new month which means almost a new challenge and a new Stamp of the Month.

So get ready and check back tomorrow for something special from Jenny!

Tea for Two

Happy Friday!

Jenny here for April who has sick children and not feeling well herself.
The flu is the worst isn't it??

I created this card awhile back...and I gotta say it's one of my fave sentiments.
The tea pot is cut out from some DP.  It did have a clock face on the front that I didn't think worked with the saying.  After all, if you are looking at a clock then making tea IS a chore (lol)!

You can find this stamp here at the Great Impressions Stamps store.

There is still time to get in on our monthly challenge.
Come on, ya know you want to. (smile).  Just click on the link above my post for more info.
Don't be scared off by the "handmade" part of it.  A handmade card works perfectly for this challenge.

Feel better soon April!

Hugs and wishes for a great weekend!

Chicken Soup - Not Quite Like Mom's!

Welcome to another Thursday! I love Thursdays...it's the day that marks more than halfway and it's the day before the weekend starts...what's not to love?!

This is the time of year where everyone I know is either getting over the flu or just getting sick...not my favorite time, but it does mean that I get to help out a friend or two with a little pick me up - bring on the chicken soup!

And somehow, it just seems to taste better when it comes in cute packaging, right?! I bagged the dry ingredients of a chicken lentil soup recipe, wrapped it tight and included the cooking instructions on a tag tucked into the back of the box. (If you're interested in the chicken lentil soup recipe stop by my blog Friday afternoon!)
The bowl is covered with Crackle Accents.

(Sorry about the off color pictures...that's what happens when you realize you didn't take any photos during the day! UPDATE: I retook the project photos - no more green!)

This project used two of the March Stamp of the Month stamps, so they're currently only available from participating stores!

Hope you and your's stay healthy...maybe you should eat more soup! :)

Inky hugs,
Angi

Life's Pleasures

It's Tuesday and my week is already flying by!
Always something going on, family to attend to, errands...  Just everyday life happening.
I created this card over the weekend and decided to take the sentiment to heart.
It's been very unseasonably warm here in Wisconsin,
so my sweet hubby brought out the patio furniture.
I made time to just sit outside and take in all the lovely sounds and sights of Spring.
Then I got lost in a book on my Nook.  Absolutely love my Nook!

The image on my card today just makes me smile.
Reminds me of the innocence of children and how
seeing life through their eyes can be such a wonder!

I choose soft colors for my card.
The background DP mimics a kind of water color effect I think.
In keeping with the no flat card for the DT challenge this week, (really never a problem for me - grin!) ...my image panel is popped up and I paper pieced the umbrella
and popped that up also with dimensionals.

Some sponging around a Nestie with distressed ink provided a soft frame for this a-dorable image.
A rolled scalloped button flower with a bit of twine tops it off with even more texture.

Supplies
Not Shown:  SU - Crushed Curry Card stock - Retired;  Button from my stash

Great Impressions Stamps has been so good to me!
I am thoroughly enjoying the variety of their wonderful stamps.
It seems I am constantly adding to my list of "wants".
Have you made up a list?
Their new on-line store even has a wish-list.
Now...how cool is that (smile!)

Enjoy your Tuesday everyone...and take time to enjoy those "little pleasures".

Hugs,
